Synopsis from the Author

Megan Dunn arrives in Seaside, Oregon a broken woman with a dream: open a B&B like she planned to do with her husband, Cass, whose life was tragically cut short five years ago. But the old Victorian she bought needs extensive renovations and the one man who can help her—Theo Valentine—takes an immediate and intense dislike to her.

Left scarred and mute after a terrible accident, the reclusive Theo is a brilliant contractor whose plans to renovate the building Megan bought are eerily similar to her own. As their paths cross again and again and Megan begins to see the man beneath the mystery, a part of her that she thought was lost forever slowly starts to reawaken.

But when she discovers unsettling similarities between Theo and her late husband and strange coincidences begin to mount, Megan is forced to confront everything she believed about her past…and decide how far she’ll go to get the truth.

Things I Loved & Things I Struggled With

  • I love that it was an easy read with a hint of mystery and lush story-telling, which from time to time gave me goosebumps as well (hehe).

  • I also like how the author taps on some mental health issues such as PTSD and depression, and shows character development through it—getting help. I love how the athour develops the female character into a strong and confident woman.

  • 'Don't judge a book by its cover' they say... But really tho, the cover looks like the story is of a horror one.

  • I feel like with Theo not communicating, more issues arose that shouldn't have existed in the mirst place. Because of his lack of honesty and miscommuniaction, there were issues that could have been resolved.

  • I struggled to understand if Megan actually fell in love with Theo because of him or if it was because he reminds her of her late husband... I wished they had their feelings grew because of their unique characteristics (who they are now) rather than their past memories.

  • I would have also love more POV from him :(

  • I got to be honest, some parts I dozed off because of how repetitive things were. But overall, it was an interesting read. I recommend this book to those who like the theme surrounding reincarnation, coincidences, and second chance.
